Overview

Position Summary 


The Lot Attendant for the Used Car Department is responsible for organizing, maintaining, and presenting all preowned vehicle inventory in a clean, professional, and customer-ready condition. This role supports sales and service operations by ensuring vehicles are properly positioned, prepped, and accessible, while maintaining the overall appearance and organization of the used car lot. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, dependable, and comfortable working outdoors in a fast-paced dealership environment. 

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities 

  • Park, arrange, and organize used vehicle inventory on the lot and showroom according to dealership standards.
  • Move vehicles safely between the lot, service department, reconditioning shops, detail bay, and delivery areas.
  • Inspect incoming used vehicles for cleanliness, damage, equipment, and proper labeling.
  • Ensure all used vehicles are clean, fueled, and ready for customer test drives and sales presentations.
  • Assist with vehicle staging for appointments, test drives, and customer deliveries. 
  • Install hangtags, window stickers, dealer plates, and merchandising materials on used vehicles.
  • Maintain lot cleanliness and curb appeal, including clearing snow, removing debris, and cleaning windshields as needed.
  • Perform regular lot audits to verify vehicle locations, inventory accuracy, and proper display organization.
  • Support Used Car Sales Consultants and Managers by positioning vehicles for promotions, online photos, and display setup.
  • Transport vehicles to and from offsite locations such as auctions, vendors, or reconditioning facilities when required. 
  • Follow all dealership safety standards and ensure a safe working environment. 
  • All other duties as assigned by leadership.

 
Qualifications 

  • Previous experience in a Lot Attendant, Porter, or similar automotive role preferred but not required.
  • Ability to safely operate both automatic and manual transmission vehicles. 
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and professional lot appearance. 
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively in a physically active role.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and customer service mindset. 
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
