Overview

Position Summary

 

The Parts Counter Advisor, Retail is responsible for supporting customers at the dealership’s retail parts counter by assisting with part identification, quotes, sales, and product recommendations. This role ensures a professional, friendly experience for walk in customers and supports the dealership’s OEM parts sales goals. The advisor works closely with the parts, service, and collision teams to maintain accurate inventory, deliver timely service, and uphold OEM standards.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Assist retail customers in identifying and selecting the correct OEM parts and accessories based on their needs.
  • Use electronic parts catalogues (EPC) and dealership systems to look up accurate part numbers and verify compatibility.
  • Provide pricing, availability, and product guidance, including special‑order items and accessories.
  • Process retail transactions, including cash, credit, warranty claims, core returns, and invoices.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and customer‑friendly parts counter area.
  • Receive, inspect, and stock incoming parts, handle returns, exchanges, and warranty related parts.
  • Track back ordered parts, notify customers of arrival times, and manage follow up communication.
  • Promote OEM parts, accessories, and dealership specials to enhance customer value and sales.
  • Collaborate with the parts inventory team to maintain accurate stock levels and proper bin organization.
  • Support dealership departments by providing parts information or preparing orders as needed.
  • Follow all dealership, OEM, and safety procedures, including proper handling of parts and chemicals.

Qualifications

 

  • 1-3+ years of automotive parts experience preferred; OEM dealership experience is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive components, OEM parts catalogues, and inventory systems.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with a professional, friendly approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple customer requests in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy in parts lookup.
  • Proficiency with dealership management systems (DMS) and electronic parts catalogues (EPC).
  • Basic mechanical or automotive knowledge preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.

Posted Salary Range

CAD $46,000.00 - CAD $55,000.00 /Yr.
