Overview

Position Summary

 
The Service Shop Foreman, Non-Productive, is responsible for overseeing daily shop operations, supporting technicians, and ensuring that all repair work meets OEM standards—without performing billable repair labor. This role focuses on workflow management, quality control, coaching, and technical oversight to maximize efficiency and maintain a high performing service environment. The ideal candidate is an experienced technician or leader with strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. 

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities 

  • Supervise and support the service technician team, ensuring proper workflow, job assignment, and shop productivity.
  • Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting assistance, and repair clarification to technicians as needed. 
  • Review and approve repair orders for accuracy, proper documentation, and compliance with OEM and dealership standards.
  • Conduct quality control checks on completed repairs to ensure accuracy, safety, and workmanship excellence.
  • Ensure all repairs follow warranty guidelines, OEM procedures, and dealership policies.
  • Assist the Service Manager with shop scheduling, resource planning, and daily operational oversight.
  • Support onboarding, training, coaching, and development of technicians to improve overall performance.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workshop environment, ensuring adherence to all safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with service advisors to communicate repair timelines, technical needs, and shop capacity.
  • Monitor shop equipment, tools, and supplies to ensure availability, proper use, and maintenance.
  • Resolve escalated technical or workflow issues to reduce downtime and improve team efficiency.
  • All other duties as assigned by leadership.


Qualifications 

  • Experienced automotive technician or shop leader; OEM or dealership background strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of diagnostic procedures, repair processes, and OEM repair standards.
  • Proven ability to lead, train, and coach technicians of varying skill levels.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational ability with the capacity to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with dealership management systems (DMS) and OEM diagnostic platforms. 
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship and safety. 
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required. 
  • Additional technical certifications or leadership training are an asset.

CAD $80,000.00 - CAD $120,000.00 /Yr.
